It is an honor and privilege to welcome you to our official website and virtual home. I am humbled to serve as the President following in the steps of phenomenal women who set the standard and blazed the trail for me, and others to follow. I am elated to have the opportunity to represent and lead the members of this chapter, rich in history, sisterhood, and service.
Chartered on November 16, 1968, by sixteen remarkable women, our members are fully committed to supporting the community and devoted to fulfilling the mission of our beloved organization. This year, Theta Sigma Omega Chapter will celebrate 55 years of service and commitment to Hattiesburg, Mississippi and the Pine Belt area.
Our chapter is part of the Sophisticated Southeastern Region comprised of Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee, under the leadership of Regional Director, Dr. Tracey Morant-Adams. We are invested in the Power of Us and committed to continuing our legacy of service by implementing impactful and sustainable programs. As Alpha Kappa Alpha women, we seek opportunities to meet the needs of our community through partnerships and collaborations while leveraging the 2022-2026 International Programs outlined by our current International President and CEO, Danette Anthony-Reed. We stand together prepared to answer the call to Serve All Mankind, under the theme, “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.”
In addition to the international initiatives, we are equally devoted to signature programs unique to Theta Sigma Omega Chapter such as the Ivy Pearls of Hattiesburg, The Pink Cotillion Debutante Ball and the Black History Bowl. TSO’s membership consists of intelligent, phenomenal, and civic-minded women with diverse backgrounds, talents, and professions. Our membership spans multiple generations from charter members to recent college graduates. We are fortunate to have chapter members who have served on international and regional committees, and a host of exceptional members who have dedicated themselves to leadership roles within our chapter.
Guided by traditions and devoted to nurturing the ivy, our chapter is honored to serve as the supervising chapter to the undergraduates of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Iota Kappa Chapter located on The University of Southern Mississippi campus.
I believe that you will find that we are a warm and welcoming sisterhood and invite any relocating or local member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., looking for a chapter home to join us. We also welcome any organization desiring to collaborate with us to uplift our local communities. I encourage you to periodically return to our website, like, follow and share TSO content and events on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Theta Sigma Omega chapter is committed to Leadership, Enhancement & Upliftment, as we continue use the “Power of Us” to “Soar to Greater Heights”.
In Service to all Mankind,
Angela Bonner, EDD
President, Theta Sigma Omega Chapter
